James M Shepherd, CPA
Jim Shepherd is a native of Richmond and received his Bachelor of Science degree from Virginia Polytechnic and State University (VA Tech) and a Post Baccalaureate Certificate in Accounting from Virginia Commonwealth University (VCU). He is licensed by the Commonwealth of Virginia and the State of Colorado as a Certified Public Accountant. Jim earned a Master of Science degree in Financial Planning from the College for Financial Planning.
Jim is the Past-Chairman of Verus Financial Partners where he retired in 2018. Jim is Past President for the Richmond Chapter of the Virginia Society of CPAs and is Past Chair of the Board of the Virginia Society of CPAs.
Jim is a Past member of the Financial Planning Association, Past President of the Richmond Society of the Institute of Certified Financial Planners and a Past President of the Richmond Chapter of the International Association for Financial Planning.
Jim was awarded the 2016 Outstanding Member of the Year by the Virginia Society of CPAs. His peers have selected him as an “Outstanding CPA” in financial planning, as reported in the Virginia Business Magazine. He was named the 2008 recipient of the John H. Cecil, Jr. Lifetime Service Award by the Financial Planning Association of Central Virginia.
Jim is a Past President of the South Richmond Rotary Club and was appointed by the Chesterfield Board of Supervisors as a member of the Health Center Commission to oversee Lucy Corr Nursing Home where he served as Chairman.
Jim is Past President and Past Treasurer of the Byrd Theatre Foundation which serves to restore and preserve the Richmond landmark.
