The Young Professional Advisory Council (YPAC) is a strategic task force focused on enhancing the value of the young professional member segment to boost member engagement. YPAC’s mission is to provide young professionals with career-building connections and leadership development opportunities.
YPAC members have the opportunity to develop leadership skills, network with other young professionals, engage in volunteerism and advocacy, and contribute to shaping the future of the CPA profession.
Standard volunteer terms apply, with renewals based on individual contribution and interest.
- 2-3 one-hour virtual meetings annually
- Participation in subgroups or task forces, as needed (approximately 2-3 hours)
- Attendance at the in-person Leaders' Summit, typically one per year
YPAC is open to VSCPA members aged 35 or younger.
YPAC members play an active role in advancing the VSCPA’s strategic goals by:
- Making meaningful connections with other young professionals at events
- Enhancing leadership abilities at the Leaders’ Summit
- Giving back to the profession through volunteerism and advocacy
- Improving presentation skills by speaking to Virginia accounting students
- Guiding the VSCPA on providing value to young CPAs and shaping the future of the profession
Committee Member Role & Expectations:
YPAC members are expected to:
- Actively participate in group discussions, focusing on the best interests of the VSCPA and its membership
- Attend all meetings (virtual and in-person) and review materials in advance
- Serve on subcommittees or task forces, if applicable, and complete special assignments as requested
- Support the development of programs, resources, and partnerships that further YPAC and VSCPA goals
- Promote VSCPA and YPAC events and resources
- Respond promptly to communications and represent YPAC in other VSCPA meetings as requested
