VSCPA chapters are an important component of the membership experience that provides a critical local connection. As a chapter officer you will be responsible for leading your chapter to reach the goals of the chapter and VSCPA standards. Each chapter is a self-governing affiliate of the VSCPA and, as such, is a unique entity. Chapter leadership is a great way to get involved at the local level and build your leadership experience.
The responsibilities of individual officers will vary according to the needs of each chapter. However, the duties and responsibilities of the chapter offices are an integral part of the activities of the VSCPA. This typically includes planning and executing events, finding speakers, managing membership data, communications, and dues.
As in many organizations, the chapters traditionally treat the officer positions as an expected sequence leading from treasurer to secretary and then on to vice president and president.
Volunteering here to be a chapter officer is subject to approval from the individual chapters and time commitment may vary depending on the chapter. The typical time commitment is 1-5 hours a month.
