Description:

The Scholarship Committee works closely with the VSCPA Educational Foundation to award scholarships to accounting students in Virginia. The committee reviews and ranks scholarship applications based on eligibility criteria, ensuring that the Foundation's mission of supporting future CPAs is fulfilled. Last year, the committee helped distribute over $70,000 in scholarships to deserving students. The VSCPA is committed to promoting diversity, equity, and inclusion in the CPA profession, and the committee plays a vital role in achieving this goal by identifying and supporting talented students from all backgrounds.

What volunteers gain:

  • Direct impact on the future of the profession: By reviewing applications and selecting recipients, committee members contribute to shaping the next generation of CPAs.

  • Gain valuable experience in evaluation and selection processes: The committee's work can provide valuable insights into assessing candidates based on eligibility criteria and VSCPAs goals.

  • Opportunity to contribute to a meaningful cause: Members can feel a sense of accomplishment knowing they are helping to support students' educational goals and career aspirations.
