The Small Practitioner’s Peer Learning Group is a peer-driven community designed to support and connect practitioners from firms with 30 or fewer employees. This group provides a space for members to engage in meaningful discussions, share practical insights, and collaborate on navigating the unique challenges of running a smaller practice. Through virtual peer learning sessions and potential in-person gatherings, the group fosters a strong network of small practitioners supporting one another’s growth and success.

What Volunteers Gain: 

Volunteers will have the opportunity to shape the direction of the Small Practitioner’s Peer Learning Group, lead discussions, and connect with peers facing similar challenges. This role allows members to develop leadership skills, expand their professional network, and contribute to the creation of valuable programming designed specifically for small firms. 

Volunteers Needed: 

5–10 

Term Limits & Renewal:
 
Standard volunteer terms apply, with renewal based on individual contribution and interest. 

Time Commitment: 

- Quarterly one-hour virtual planning meetings 
- Attendance and active involvement in 3–6 virtual peer learning sessions per year 
- Additional time for reviewing materials and developing content for group activities 

Required Experience: 

Professionals from small firms who are passionate about collaboration, peer support, and the growth of the small practitioner community. Prior leadership or networking experience is a plus but not required. 

Responsibilities: 

Volunteers play a key role in building and sustaining the Small Practitioner’s Peer Learning Group by: 
- Helping plan and guide the topics for peer learning sessions 
- Ensuring discussions are relevant, practical, and beneficial to participants 
- Fostering a welcoming environment that encourages open sharing and peer support 
- Exploring potential opportunities for in-person gatherings based on member interest 
- Collaborating with VSCPA staff to promote the group and encourage participation 

Committee Member Role & Expectations: 

Committee members are expected to: 
- Actively participate in quarterly planning meetings and peer learning sessions 
- Provide input on discussion topics and programming to align with the needs of small practitioners 
- Support a positive and inclusive community where all members feel encouraged to engage 
- Respond to communications promptly and assist in outreach efforts as needed
