At Art on Wheels, we create projects that bring out the best in our community - projects that draw attention to our shared experiences, that introduce whimsy in unexpected places, that use art to heal hurts big and small. We believe the arts are a crucial tool to help transform and build happy and healthy communities. We have two main focuses in our programming.
- Our Arts in the Community program creates public and community driven art for the community, by the community, that represents its people in a powerful and meaningful way while amplifying the public by giving them ownership over the creation of the art.
- Our therapeutic outreach programs seeks to improve health and wellness in underserved communities, such as the elderly, people with disabilities, cancer patients and veterans, through the arts. We are able to significantly impact these disadvantaged populations by providing an empowering and creative learning environment in which to cope with the variety of challenges prevalent in these communities.
