The Virginia Society of CPAs (VSCPA) is hosting a free Nonprofit Finance Summit on Monday, Nov. 14 from 10 – 4:00 p.m. at South County Library in Roanoke. The Summit will include both a morning seminar and afternoon breakout sessions focusing on specific nonprofit finance topics. The seminar from 10 a.m. – 1 p.m. will be led by VSCPA member Jim Cole, CPA, who will give a great overview of the financial considerations faced by nonprofit organizations.
A complimentary networking luncheon will be held from 1 p.m. – 2 p.m. From 2–4 p.m., nonprofit organizations will be able to sign up for two one-hour breakout sessions taking a more in-depth look at a series of individual topics discussed during the seminar, including:
∙ U.S. Internal Revenue Service (IRS) concerns
∙ Fundraising
∙ Budget practices
∙ Financial reporting
∙ Cash management
∙ Improving the effectiveness of boards of directors
∙ Insurance
The VSCPA needs volunteers to lead these breakout sessions. If you are able to commit an hour or two on April 25 and interested in leading breakout discussions with the Roanoke/Southwest Virginia nonprofit community on any of those topics, please reach out to me as soon as possible at dbass@vscpa.com
