I began my education at USC in the hopes of breaking in the sports industry. After graduating, I found jobs to be difficult to find as I didn't have a specialized skill set. I decided to attend GMU at nights to supplement my degree. I hoped to break into the finance department of a sports team.
While completing my degree at GMU, I was working at Ross & Moncure in Alexandria, a boutique tax firm. I began as an admin worked my way up, while finishing up my degree. After graduating I found pickings slim for work in the sports industry. Thanks to the first time home buyers I wasn't able to relocate from the DC area, so I decided to continue my work in taxation.
From Ross & Moncure, I moved to a larger firm offering me more exposure. I've been with Ross, Langan & McKendree (a separate firm) for the past three years.
I'm now hoping to begin the climb up to supervisor, manager and partner. Guidance and insight on a career in accounting are invaluable as well as the connection of other professionals outside of my firm.
